Everything we are, we owe to mother earth and her resources. The wood used to build our houses, the glass in our windows, and the plastic that makes up our water bottles all come from the resources we have on earth.

A great way to celebrate Earth Day is to bring the wonderful creations of earth indoors. A houseplant is a great way to remind yourself to practice the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) daily around the house!

In addition to their eco-goodness, houseplants are a beautiful addition to any indoor space. By the use of color and texture you can instantly change the look and mood of your room!

—————————

In addition to his duties as Co-Director of the Center for Climate Sciences, Dr. Joao Teixeira serves as the Science Team Leader for the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) Project. In addition, he is a Visiting Associate in Environmental Science & Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, and a Visiting Scholar at the Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) at the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to his work at JPL, Dr. Teixeira was a Senior Scientist at the NATO Undersea Research Centre in La Spezia, Italy, a UCAR Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory, Monterey, California, and a Scientist at the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts in Reading, United kingdom. Dr. Teixeira’s research interests include the links between turbulence, clouds and climate, and the use of a variety of models and observations to better understand the interactions between Earth’s climate system and small-scale processes such as convection.

—————————

Beyond his activities in the world of digital and data transformation of large international companies as Managing Director of an American consulting company Mr. Jean-Philippe Régnault is vice-president of the Star’s UP festival near Paris, France. This festival aims to bring together the general public and French and European experts, investors, and researchers in aeronautics, ballooning and space to reflect on the future of air transport modes. This festival takes place this year at the end of June in Meudon near Paris in partnership with the Spaceconnect event and the future of the ballooning conference.

After joining the French Air Force, Mr. Michel Aguilar obtained his diploma as an engineer in armament studies and techniques (free candidate) at the DGA (Direction générale pour l’armement, « equivalent » of DARPA). He held several positions in Paris (radar, helicopter, flight tests); on detached service at the Ministry of Industry, he became the Quai d’Orsay correspondent (COCOM) for East-West technology transfers.

He retired from the State, and became a science journalist at the Dépêche du Midi (a daily newspaper in Occitania), a teacher of mathematics and physics, and then developed his project for a flying car and its disruptive propulsion system. With the support of the Ministry of Defense, he obtained (2014) the famous POC (Proof of concept) for the Thermoreactor with multiple applications. He is also the author of numerous books, particularly in the human sciences.

Description:

Each of us dreams of becoming Icarus, but WITHOUT the fall as we approach the Sun!

It would seem that in this 21st century, the time has come to regain the 3rd dimension, and ALL the big and small companies’ awareness that part of our activities damages the “lungs of the planet” means that all companies will be vitally obliged to offer clean technologies [hearing (acoustics), smell (chemicals), sight (aesthetics), touch (materials)]. The market will then impose it as well as people’s demand: without this proposal, there will be no turnover!

To date, electric propulsion has taken hold of ALL the players on the planet to solve this techno-ecological-market equation. Thus, batteries are at the heart of the solution, and hybrid technology is currently the best solution to solve this famous equation: vertical take-off/landing in electric mode (the plane becomes “silent” for local residents), and thermal mode in cruise (optimized engine, and therefore reduced consumption) with battery recharging.

But among all these solutions, there is another one (still under study) which would work WITHOUT batteries and fuel cells: the Thermoreactor!

This new mode of propulsion, a real technological disruptive recognized by ALL the engine manufacturers in the world, allows gains in consumption of more than 20%, and its small size means that it can be positioned in the wings, which completely changes the design of the aerostructure. In addition, it is designed to run on 3rd generation microalgae-type biofuel (genetically modified), and therefore without impact on terrestrial agriculture…

Finally, this technology of the future proposes a whole concept of mobility called: s (short)-UAM. If you want to know more, you can – on request – receive the download address (60 Mo) of this animation.

Mr. Chiu-Yüeh Blaise is an Aeronautical Engineer with a double degree from the University of Compiègne and Cranfield University. Passionate of aeronautic, Chiu-Yüeh was implicated in several aeronautical societies, helping students to take part in different activities concerning the aeronautical domain (airshows, museums, conferences). His activities helped him being selected as a French International Air Cadet in 2018 supported by a French flying heritage conservation association. He is now the Secretary of ORAJe and a member of the 3AF, looking for his first professional experience in the aerospace industry.

Ms. Christine Lin is 20 years old and she is currently studying at the University of Technology of Compiegne (UTC). This year, she is getting into the mechanical engineering program. She developed her passion for aviation during her one-month internship in 2019 in the plane maintenance area. Ever since then, she has been participating in different activities involving aeronautics to deepen her knowledge. She started by passing the Aeronautics Initiation Certificate (BIA), then she chose to be part of the association UTCiel, the aeronautical association of UTC, as the head events and then as the president. Today she is looking for an internship in this field to have a broader eye on this industry.
