Monica Maynard: Member Spotlight Nov. 4, 2019

Monica Maynard:
Aerospace Corp. / Montebello School District / AIAA LA-LV Member

As the STEM Coordinator at The Aerospace Corporation, Monica works with members of the technical staff and education institutions to develop and implement K-12 curriculum. For the past seven years, Monica has maintained a Summer Teacher Workshop geared towards educators working in high-need schools by incorporating real-world science and engineering examples. Over the years, the workshop has grown and is now running in Albuquerque, NM, serving those with the most need. Most recently, she has developed a High School Institute in which students have the opportunity to decipher solutions to current problems working shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers and scientists. Monica received her Bachelor’s of Science in Geology and her Single Subject Teaching Credential from the California State University, Los Angeles, where she is currently a mentor. She has taught science and engineering in the Montebello District. Monica has presented at the Satellites & Education Conference and received the Vic Everett Memorial Award for Excellence in Service.   Link to Aerospace STEM Page:
