Alondra is currently involved in efforts to foster STEM/STEAM education and training for careers in the space industry, particularly for high school and college aged youth. Alondra’s previous positions include Medical Writer or Technical Writer in medical devices regulatory affairs at Johnson and Johnson’s Ethicon and DePuy Synthes, Boston Scientific, Baxter Healthcare, Medtronic, Nuvasive, and Covidien. She has also served as a Medical Writer for CareFusion, North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Alondra earned a B.A. from University of Pennsylvania, M.A. in anthropology from University of California (UC) at Berkeley, and Ph.D. in anthropology and medical anthropology through the Joint Doctoral Program in Medical Anthropology at UC Berkeley and UCSF School of Medicine.
Alondra’s present endeavors reflect her long term scientific interest in data-driven storytelling about human biological and cultural adaptation to off-earth habitats, coupled with her commitment to help populations underrepresented in STEM/STEAM fields acquire the skills needed to work in the space industry.
